Teach your assistant: pages, custom answers and your business profile

See which pages your assistant learned, add a page it missed, write custom answers that always take priority, and edit the business profile it reads with every question.

A built assistant
Time
Five to ten minutes
Where
AI Assistants → your assistant → Knowledge

Your assistant answers from three kinds of knowledge, all on the Knowledge tab: the pages it read on your website, the custom answers you write yourself, and a short business profile it reads with every single question. (Documents from your Knowledge library can teach it too. See the library guide.)

Check the pages it learned

The Pages table lists every page your assistant read, its type (home, pricing, support and so on), its status, and how much it learned from it. A page marked Failed couldn't be read, usually because it was slow, blocked or behind a sign-in; press Retry. Remove a page it shouldn't use with the bin button, and it will be skipped by future rebuilds as well.

Every page, its status and how much was learned. Removed pages can be restored.
  1. Add a page it missed

Paste the page's address into the box above the table and press Add page. It's read and learned in seconds.

  2. Changed your website?

Press Rebuild from website to read everything again. Paid plans also re-learn automatically, monthly on Starter, weekly on Growth and daily on Pro; the card at the top shows when the next one is due. Re-index rebuilds the search index from what's already learned, without re-reading your site.

Write custom answers

A custom answer is something you write yourself, and it always wins over the website. Use them for anything your site doesn't say, says badly, or that changes often: a discount, a policy, a holiday closure, the answer to that one question everyone asks.

  1. Press Add answer

Choose Question & answer for a specific question, or Free-text note for background facts that don't fit one question (for example, "We don't service the Blue Mountains").

  2. Write the question the way a customer would ask it

"Do you offer phone support?" works better than "Phone support policy". You don't need to list every wording; the assistant matches questions by meaning.

  3. Write the answer and save

Keep it short and complete. Press Save answer and your assistant knows it immediately; there's no rebuild. Untick Active to pause an answer without deleting it.

The fastest way to find what to write is Knowledge Gaps: a list of the questions your assistant couldn't answer, each with an Add answer button. See conversations, leads and gaps.

Fine-tune the business profile

The Business profile is a short summary of your business (what you do, where, your hours and how to reach you) written by AI from your website. It's sent with every question, so these are the facts your assistant always knows, whatever was asked.

Edit it like any text and press Save profile. Once you've edited it, the badge changes from Written by AI to Your wording, and future rebuilds refresh your pages but keep your wording.

Check any change in the Playground. Its "Under the hood" panel shows whether an answer came from a page, a custom answer or a document.
