Install your assistant on your website

Copy one line of code and paste it into your site: WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Google Tag Manager or plain HTML. Then confirm it's live.

Access to your website's editor or admin

Where
AI Assistants → your assistant → Install

Your assistant goes on your site with a single line of code. It loads in the background, never slows your pages down, and appears on every page where the line is present, in the corner you choose under Appearance.

Copy your line of code

  1. Open the Install tab

Go to AI Assistants, open your assistant and choose Install.

  2. Copy the line

Press Copy next to your code. It looks like this, with your assistant's own key:

    <script src="https://owns.ai/w/YOUR-KEY.js" async></script>
The Install tab with the one line of code and its Copy button
Your one line of code. It's the same line for every page of your site.

Paste it into your website

Under Where to paste it, pick your platform and the steps change to match. In short:

PlatformWhere the line goes
WordPressInstall the free WPCode plugin, open Code Snippets → Header & Footer, paste into Footer and save. Or add it to your theme's footer just before </body>.
ShopifyOnline Store → Themes → … → Edit code, open theme.liquid, paste just before </body> and save.
WixSettings → Custom code → Add custom code, choose All pages, place it in Body – end, then publish.
SquarespaceSettings → Advanced → Code Injection, paste into Footer and save.
WebflowProject settings → Custom code, paste into Footer code, save and publish.
Google Tag ManagerNew Custom HTML tag with the line, triggered on All Pages; submit and publish.
Any other siteJust before the closing </body> tag, ideally in the shared footer template every page uses.
WordPress install steps shown on the Install tab
Choose your platform and follow the numbered steps.

Paste the line once, somewhere every page shares (a footer, a theme template or a tag manager), rather than page by page. Then it's on every page you add later, too.

Check it's live

The Is it live? card knows the moment your assistant loads on your site. After you've published your change, press Check my website now. The status changes from Not detected yet to live, and the Installed on your website item in the Overview's setup checklist is ticked.

Not ready to publish? Press See it on a preview to see your assistant on a picture of your own website first.

The Is it live card and the Allowed websites setting
Check the install, and optionally lock your code to your own websites.

Lock it to your own websites (optional)

Allowed websites stops anyone copying your line of code onto their own site and using your messages. List your domains, separated by commas or one per line, and use *.example.com to include every subdomain. Then press Save allowed websites.

Not showing up? Clear your website's cache (many WordPress caching plugins hold the old page), then reload. Still stuck? Send us your website address and we'll take a look.
