Build your first AI assistant from your website

Paste your website address and owns.ai reads your important pages, learns your business and builds an assistant in about a minute. Here's what happens and what to check next.

About a minute to build, five to check

/build, then AI Assistants

Your assistant learns from the website you already have. There's nothing to upload and no training to do: owns.ai opens your site in a real browser, works out which pages hold your business information (about, services, products, pricing, FAQ, contact, shipping, returns and so on), reads each one in full, and turns it into knowledge your assistant answers from.

Build it

  1. Paste your website address

Go to Build my AI assistant (or AI Assistants → New assistant once you're signed in), type your website, for example yourbusiness.com.au, and press Build my AI assistant — free. You don't need the https://.

  2. Watch it learn

A progress bar shows each stage: opening your home page, finding the pages that matter, reading them, extracting the information, writing a business profile and building its knowledge. Most sites finish in about a minute; large or slow sites take a little longer.

  3. Check what it learned

When the status turns Ready, the assistant's Overview shows how many pages and passages it learned, and a Setup checklist with anything still to do.

Read the Overview

The Overview is the assistant's home screen. Along the top you'll see conversations, questions answered, leads captured, the answer rate (how many questions it answered from your knowledge), satisfaction from visitors' thumbs up and down, and the time it has saved your team.

The Setup checklist on the right is the quickest way to a great assistant. Each line has a Fix button that takes you straight to the right setting: install it on your website, personalise the greeting and starter questions, switch on lead capture, and set what it offers when it can't answer.

Test it in the Playground

Before your customers see it, ask it the questions they ask you. Open the Playground tab and type a question. The panel on the right, Under the hood, shows exactly which passages it used to answer (a page, one of your custom answers, or a document), how well each matched, and how long the answer took.

"Answered from knowledge" means the answer came from your own content. Under the hood shows which.

Not quite right? Don't rewrite your website. Add a custom answer under Knowledge; it always wins over the website, and it works the moment you save it.

Playground chats are kept separately under Conversations → Playground tests and never count towards your monthly messages.
